Customer Right to Know

• You have the right to choose which contractor you would like to restore your home.
• It is illegal for your insurance company to require you to use their preferred vendor: Furthermore, it is illegal for them to even suggest one of their preferred vendors to you unless you are specifically asking for one.
• All contractors that work on your loss “should” work for you and not the insurance company.
• Using a preferred vendor does not guarantee higher quality work or that your loss will be done in a timely fashion.
• Insurance companies are not allowed to dictate what repairs are done or how they are performed: They are only required to confirm that the repairs are done in a professional manner and at reasonable prices.
• We carry all liability on this job and are tasked to ensure it is done correctly: Your adjuster or carrier may disagree with some of the charges or methods we used in order to successfully return your home to pre loss condition. Please remember, we are certified and do this for a living and know the processes. Your adjuster or carrier does not do this for a living, has no liability, and many of their arguments made may only be an effort to cut costs for them.
• Your insurance company works for you: Remember, you pay them as insurance to perform for you when an emergency happens.
• Your insurance company is required by law to handle all claims in a timely fashion.
• Xactimate Software: Our company uses Xactimate for invoicing as a courtesy to the carrier to expedite the review and approval process. This software per Xactimate staff is to be used as a guide and for the contractor to adjust pricing as they may need to in order to cover their costs on certain line items. Many of the line items specifically state they encourage to adjust the price based on location, time, and/or fees.
• Overhead & Profit (O&P): Our company charges O&P on all repair invoices. Insurance adjusters/representatives like to say that they don’t pay for O&P or that it is unwarranted. The invoicing software we use specifically excludes O&P in it’s pricing and it leaves a separate place for it to be added after. The software company has also came out with a form explaining that O&P is not factored into the pricing and goes into detail about what overhead and profit is and how ALL contractors have the right to charge for this. • Payment Terms: Payment is due within 20 days of invoice. This is plenty of time for a carrier to review all the provided documentation and send payment in full. If the carrier does not pay this invoice in full, you are ultimately responsible for all charges and/or late fees. The carriers may try to take up to 2-4 months to review and send payments and as a small company we can’t float these expenses for an unlimited amount of time. We will guide and help you the whole way through and we encourage you to call on payment status every 3-4 days to ensure they process payment.
